• Alison is Professor of Community Pharmacy Practice at Robert Gordon University’s School of Pharmacy and Life Sciences in Aberdeen. Her role there is to provide leadership with a particular emphasis on policy development for community pharmacy and to act as a driver for the required changes in pharmacy education to support the pharmacy workforce development needs in Scotland. She has a specific interest in quality improvement, patient safety, health technology appraisal, educational approaches and interprofessional learning. Alison is also seconded to the Scottish Government Health Directorates as a Principal Pharmaceutical Officer. She is responsible for the design and implementation of the practice elements of the Scottish community pharmacy contract for pharmaceutical care services and the ePharmacy Programme which has introduced the electronic transfer of prescriptions between GP practices and community pharmacies across Scotland. Alison and her husband, Ken McPherson own a community pharmacy in Broughty Ferry.
