• Gabriel SANFÉLIX-GIMENO, PharmD (University of Valencia, 2002), MSc in Health Economics and Pharmacoeconomics (Pompeu Fabra University, 2008) PhD (Miguel Hernández University, 2009). He is head of the Health Services Research Unit at FISABIO, Scientific Director of FISABIO-Public Health, Member of the Executive Committee from the European Drug Utilization Research Group (EuroDURG) and reviewer in the Clinical Medicine and Epidemiology Area of the Spanish National Evaluation Agency (Agencia Nacional de Evaluación y Prospectiva, ANEP). His research is focused on increasing the appropriateness of use of evidence-based medications for the treatment of common chronic conditions. Dr. Sanfélix-Gimeno is currently working in several national and international projects as principal investigator and co-investigator regarding medication adherence, appropriate medication use and clinical outcomes. He is also interested in variations in medical practice, health care utilization, quality measures and economic evaluation. In 2009, he joined the Centre for Public Health Research (CSISP, recently incorporated to FISABIO) as a postdoctoral researcher in the Health Services Research Unit. After obtaining his doctoral degree, he did a postdoctoral research stay at Harvard School of Public Health (Epidemiology Department) and the Brigham and Women’s Hospital/Harvard Medical School (Division of Pharmacoepidemiology and Pharmacoeconomics) between 2011 and 2012 (funded by Carlos III Health Institute and Harvard School of Public Health). Gabriel Sanfélix-Gimeno has published over 50 peer-reviewed articles and has won various awards for his research work.
